Long Distance Voter is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in January 2008 by a small group of professional investigators and voter advocates with the mission to provide greater access to absentee voting information online.〔(Long Distance Voter: Mission and Background )〕 The organization is staffed by volunteers who work to put together online voter guides for every state. The guides include voter registration forms, absentee ballot applications, deadlines, directions, as well as ID and residency laws. The state-by-state data is fact-checked through Secretaries of State and Local Elections Offices across the country.〔(About Long Distance Voter )〕 In 2008 the volunteers registered 20,000 voters and helped 130,000 obtain their absentee ballots. Long Distance Voter has partnerships with voter advocacy groups Rock the Vote and CountMore. ==References==
